Trina Folkes is excited to announce her candidacy for the local council.  As a resident of Bound Brook for the past six years, Trina has witnessed both the challenges and immense potential of the community. Her vision is to create a thriving environment where everyone feels heard, valued, and empowered. She prioritizes transparency, inclusivity, and sustainability in decision-making.

If elected, Trina will focus on improving local infrastructure, enhancing public safety, supporting local businesses, and promoting accessible public services for all residents. She is dedicated to engaging with the community, listening to concerns and ideas because every voice matters.

With over 25 years in the financial sector, including 17 years at Merrill Lynch, Trina has extensive experience in finance, property management, administration, and community engagement. She later transitioned into ministry and non-profit work.

Trina is a dedicated volunteer with over 30 years of service, having held leadership positions in youth programs, mentorship, and women's ministry. She is also an active member of the Bound Brook Democratic Committee. Her efforts have been recognized with endorsements from Emerge NJ, the NJ League of Conservation Voters, the Somerset County Democratic Committee, the New Jersey Federation of Democratic Women, and Elect Women New Jersey. In 2023, she was honored with The Eleanor Roosevelt Award and has received multiple Employee of the Month awards, as well as the Senior Leader Award for her commitment to volunteerism.

Trina is married to Albert Folkes, and they have been together for 25 years. She is a mother to two adult children and has three grandchildren.

As we unite to tackle the pressing issues in our community, it’s vital to focus on collaborative solutions that enhance our quality of life. Trina proposes to address key areas such as housing, traffic, schools, and the diverse needs of residents through regular forums and surveys to gather input, ensuring that plans are responsive and inclusive. Open dialogue and collaboration will be essential in moving forward, and community involvement will be central to shaping these initiatives.

With a deep passion for her community and a commitment to making a positive impact, Trina believes that together we can build a brighter future for all.
