Bound Brook Democrats have long been champions of green infrastructure in Bound Brook, driving key initiatives that focus on sustainability and resilience.
One of the landmark green infrastructure projects is the Riverfront Access Project, which blends flood mitigation with enhanced public spaces along the Raritan River. This project has transformed the riverfront into a community asset, incorporating green spaces, walking trails, and stormwater management systems to reduce flooding while providing recreational opportunities for residents (NJ TOD).
Former Democratic Councilman Abel Gomez played a crucial role in advancing the Downtown Urban Design Plan, integrating green infrastructure elements such as rain gardens, permeable pavements, and bioswales. These solutions manage stormwater runoff, improve air quality, and enhance the aesthetic appeal of Bound Brook's downtown (US EPA). When elected, Kendall and Trina will continue these efforts, ensuring that new developments prioritize sustainability and green solutions.
Trina is also dedicated to pushing forward the Complete Streets initiative once she joins the council. This project aims to create greener, safer streets by incorporating bike lanes, pedestrian walkways, and rainwater harvesting systems (US EPA). Her election will bring a renewed focus on making Bound Brook more walkable, bike-friendly, and environmentally conscious.
Bound Brook Democrats are committed to ensuring that Bound Brook's development remains sustainable, resilient, and beneficial for both the environment and the community. Their leadership will continue to make Bound Brook a model of green infrastructure in New Jersey.
